A river-town lot can be narrow, steep or both, with a drive squeezed between houses and running down toward the street. That combination puts every storm across the pavement. We fix the grade, cut out soft subgrade, compact rock in layers, then place hot mix, typically 2 to 3 inches compacted for cars and pickups. Edges get built up where no curb holds them.

We plan the entrance and the turning room first, build base for the heaviest vehicle, then pave in lifts. An older lot with sound base can often be patched, overlaid and seal coated.
Parking lot pavingAlleys, private access lanes and shared drives behind downtown buildings are regular work in a town laid out in 1816. We grade, rebuild the rock base where it has failed, crown the surface and set drainage so water leaves fast on a grade. Entrances onto Highway 79 or Business 54 get extra base.

Steep ground throws water at pavement edges, low ground keeps subgrade wet, and freeze-thaw winters work on both. We handle drainage first, then base, then asphalt.
Before you sign anything, get the base depth and the compacted asphalt thickness on paper. Two bids that look far apart are often just two different pavements.
