Why the base matters in Chesterfield
Clay-heavy soils common across the region hold water long after the rain stops, and a driveway built over wet ground will crack no matter how good the surface looks on day one. Freeze-thaw winters finish it. We grade for runoff, dig out soft subgrade, and compact clean rock in layers so the base stays dry.
Bids are only comparable when they spell out the same things: base depth, compacted thickness, how edges are finished, and where water is meant to go. Ask for those before you pick a number.
